Becky Wade has been one of my favorite few contemporary romance authors ever since I signed up for the blog tour for her first book with Bethany House, My Stubborn Heart. And then after that stand alone novel came this series about the Porter family... four books which have won awards, gained her even more readers and cemented her into all-star status of creating swoon-worthy heroes for her equally charming heroines.
I haven't written reviews for the first three books as of yet... I've been a tad busy with my own books being contracted and released, as well as being pregnant two times in that time period (I'm actually due to have the second anytime in the next few weeks!)... and I just haven't got around to sharing my love beyond posting and sharing things about the books on Facebook and Twitter for my own readers.
So... I'm going to make this post about the entire series since anyone coming upon this book as "the fourth" might want to know if the whole series is worth it. And the answer is YES. Read them all.
I have to admit, I still loved My Stubborn Heart more than the first book of this series--Undeniably Yours--but that's because I was so completely in love with the NHL star, Lamborghini driving, grief-stricken widowed hero from that book, that it was no surprise. But the rest of these guys... these stories... these complicated situations and emotions.
Yes, read them.
Becky writes her books from third person point of view, from both her hero and heroine, but they are usually about 30% hero and 70% heroine... which is different, but also something I really love. It's probably because I write my books from first person POV, and only from my heroine's perspective. I just love having the heroine's journey to loving the hero the focus; to make the reader fall in love with the hero right alongside her. And that's what happens while reading Becky's books.
Well, this is getting kinda long, so just let me add that if you're looking for some swoon-worthy heroes written into some pretty creative stories, then you need to check these books out!
{About Her One and Only}
(Bethany House, May 2016)
After ten years in the NFL, super star Gray Fowler is accustomed to obsessive fans.
But when Gray starts receiving death threats from a stalker, his team hires an executive protection agency to guard him until the culprit is caught. Dealing with bodyguards 24/7 is a headache, especially when one of them is a young, beautiful woman. How can a female half his size possibly protect him better than he can protect himself?
Dru Porter is a former Marine, an expert markswoman, and a black belt---none of which saved her from disaster on her last assignment. In order to rebuild her tarnished reputation, she's determined to find Gray's stalker and, since relationships between agents and clients are forbidden, avoid a romantic attachment between herself and the rugged football player with the mysterious past.
Yet every secret that leads Dru closer to the stalker also draws her closer to Gray. As the danger escalates, they'll survive only if they can learn to trust their lives---and their hearts---to one another.
